Microneedling

This minimally invasive non-surgical procedure utilizes surgical grade sterile needles to penetrate the skin. The resulting micro injuries promote the body’s natural production of collagen to smooth and soften scars, wrinkles, fine lines and even out skin discolorations. This process, also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy, offers long-lasting results. A series of 3-4 treatments is recommended.

How does Microneedling Work?

Before a microneedling procedure begins, a topical anesthetic is applied to the treatment area. This helps improve patient comfort during and after the procedure. Once the treatment area has been adequately numbed, the microneedling applicator is gently passed over it.

As the applicator passes over the treatment area, it creates a series of micro-injuries in the skin. These injuries are small enough that they don’t cause the patient any serious injury or scarring, but large enough that they stimulate the body’s natural process of healing. Once the body’s healing process has been triggered, new collagen proteins and skin tissues are gradually created. Over time, this healing response brings patients smoother, softer, younger-looking skin.

What does Microneedling Treat?

Microneedling can be used to treat nearly all of the most common signs of aging, including wrinkles, fine lines, stretch marks, scars, photoaging, and skin laxity. Because it opens up tiny channels in the skin, it can also be utilized in conjunction with topical products in order to maximize their effectiveness and increase their absorption.

What is a Microneedling Treatment Like?

The amount of time that each microneedling procedure takes depends on the area being treated. Following treatment, patients usually need between three and four days to fully recover. While some improvements can be seen after a single treatment, multiple procedures are often required to see significant results.

Am I a Candidate for Microneedling?

Nearly anyone interested in rejuvenating the appearance of his or her skin is a potential candidate for microneedling treatments. This treatment can be undergone by people of all skin types, and is safe enough to be used on even the most sensitive areas of the skin.
